Mia’s career spans more than twenty years in the non-profit healthcare sector, focusing on communications, marketing, and development. She has secured significant federal, state, and local grants to support health care initiatives, technology, and program development. Mia is the author of Senior Solutions: A Planning Handbook for Successful Aging in Maine and has published articles and white papers for industry journals. She holds an MA in Public Policy and Management from the Muskie School of Public Service, University of Southern Maine.
In 2020, Mia transitioned from her full-time leadership position to a consultant role and redirected her energies to the world of creative writing. She is currently working on a memoir set in a working-class fishing community that chronicles the turbulent life of Sicilian immigrants, the men at sea, and those lost on its streets. In June 2020, Mia earned an MFA from the Stonecoast Program, University of Southern Maine. Mia is available to conduct prospect research, write grant proposals, and other writing-related activities for the non-profit sector. She lives with her husband on the banks of the Mousam River in Kennebunk, Maine.
