Margaret Newlin Rice

Margaret Newlin Rice has indie-published Mourning Dove (Amazon Breakthrough Novel Semifinalist) and Crappy New Year under her married name, Meg Wilson.

While attending UCLA's Professional Program for Screenwriters in 2019-2020, Rice adapted Mourning Dove into a feature screenplay Mourning Dove Cafe. In 2021, it placed in the top 100 and/or higher in the Scriptapalooza and BlueCat competitions and the Table Read My Screenplay drama genre contest. Scriptapalooza is promoting Mourning Dove Cafe among producers, agents, and managers until mid-2022.

Margaret Newlin Rice has also written Smoke On The Water, a fact-based screenplay about desperate commercial fishermen who turned to pot smuggling in the Everglades.

In 2017, she won the Maine Literary Award for Short Nonfiction for an essay called "Little Runaway." She has since turned that coming-of-age road trip story into a novel, Call Me The Breeze.

Next up on her keyboard are screenplay adaptations of both her middle-grade Crappy New Year and her latest novel.
