A Maine native, I built a house on an island, patched minds as a psychotherapist, and mended hearts as a romance coach. I’ve had committed relationships with men, women, and too many neutered cats. My second novel, Between Here and Way Far Away, won third prize in in the Gutsy Great Novelist Chapter One Prize for Novelists, 2024. An earlier version was a semifinalist in the 2022 University of New Orleans Press Lab Prize. Similar chapters have appeared in The Sandy River Review (2020) and The Broadkill Review (2023). I read fiction submissions for Florida State University’s Southeast Review. I’ve attended numerous conferences and workshops, noted in detail on my website. I worked individually with creative writing faculty: Mark Winegardner from Florida State University (December 2022 to present) and Karen Tucker, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (2019-2022). I graduated from University of Maine, Orono, in 1971 (B. A. in Art) and New York University in 1977 (Masters in Social Work).
