Peter Korn

Peter Korn is the founder and executive director of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, a nonprofit woodworking and design school in Rockport, Maine. His most recent book is Why We Make Things and Why It Matters: The Education of a Craftsman (David R. Godine, 2013).

Korn is also the author of several how-to books, including the bestselling Woodworking Basics: Mastering the Essentials of Craftsmanship (Taunton Press, 2003), which has been translated into both Chinese and Korean, and The Woodworker's Guide to Hand Tools (Taunton Press, 1998).

Born in 1951, Korn grew up in Philadelphia, where he attended Germantown Friends School and majored in history at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been a furniture maker since 1974, and his furniture has been exhibited nationally in galleries and museums.
